History of AKE rolling bearing production.

The history of AKE rolling bearing production dates back to the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy

In more recent history, the production of bearings in the Austrian towns of Steyr and Berndorf was gradually integrated into the structures of renowned world manufacturers, namely the production in Steyr into the structures of SKF and in Berndorf into FAG under the name Algemeiner Kugellager Vetrieb - AKV. The production of bearings under the original AKE brand was maintained.

In 1993, IMET a.s. purchased AKV-AKE with the intention, among other things, to continue the production and sale of AKE bearings, while not only maintaining the historically solid quality of the bearings, but also improving it. This is done by collaborating with other renowned bearing manufacturers and their research centres, as has always been the case in the history of AKE bearings.

Today the production and trading activities are concentrated in the production plant AKE Skalica s.r.o. - in the former ZVL Skalica plant. The intention of AKE is to build on the production of special and high-precision bearings, to expand services to include comprehensive customer service and to continue the traditions of both the brand and the former ZVL Skalica production plant.
